Eddie Colman, a Salford Lad

The 50th anniversary of the Munich aircrash today is of particular significance to Salford Lads’ Club, where the Manchester United legend Eddie Colman was a member.

Eddie joined the club when he was thirteen and captained the club’s 3rd division side when he was just 14. He also attended the annual camp on 3 occasions in 1951, 1952,1954.

Volunteers Archie Swift and Jim Thorpe set up a display about Eddie in the entrance hall and a minute’s silence was held during the evening to remind all the young lads of Eddie’s time here and the achievements he made during his remarkable, but tragically short life.
