West Side Wiva Story

The Salford Foundation young people’s performing arts group are back with us for the next two weeks for their final rehearsals of West Side Wiva Story. The show opens at the Willows Variety Centre in Salford on 17th August. To find out more about the group and the new show go to west side wiva story

Jim Houghton

Jim Houghton, one of the senior volunteers at the club, died suddenly last week. Jim had a long association with the club, joining as a 12 year old in 1946. He attended 5 annual camps between1949 –1954 and was an outstanding cricket player for the club.

99th Salford Lads’ Club Camp

A party of 44 young people and adult volunteers set off for the 99th annual camp today.  It was raining in Salford, but  sunny in Wales where the advance party had already set up camp. Veteran volunteer Eric said “Blimey 99, I remember my first camp in 1946, how time fly’s” First timer  Dylan aged 10 said  “I’ve never been camping before, I’m really looking forward to playing football against a team from Aberystwyth” Club president Anthony Groves will be dropping in to meet the party, ...
