Live music and podcasts

In recent years the club has hosted some memorable live music performances. From classical to rock, our concert hall is a unique space – The Hollies even rehearsed here!

The first was a performance in the refurbished concert hall was by Mike Joyce and ex-Oasis guitarist Bonehead in the band, The Dogs (formerly Moondog One) for a BBC 6 Music Live event in 2003.

The following year, Andy Rourke and Vinny Peculiar performed two acoustic sessions in May and June 2004 when we opened The Smiths Room. Andy and Vinny also played live from the bandroom for a digital radio broadcast by Radio Regen, one of the forerunners of the local radio station, Salford City Radio.

We’ve seen performances ranging from the BBC Philharmonic Quartet to an acoustic session by Danny Mahon and Salford Foundation Trust Johnny Marr Award winner John Denton in The Smiths Room.
