SLC Triumph at Snooker Competition

SLC members William Doyle, Casey James and Kyle Hili took  the top three places in the Greater Manchester Federation of  Clubs for Young People  under 14 snooker competition. The final was held at Stockport Lads’ Club last night. William Doyle (L) once again came out as winner adding a second trophy to his pool win in December.  Casey James (C) was runner up and Kyle Hili (R) won the 3rd place play off.  All three will go through to the Northern Finals at Preston.

They’ve done it again

William Doyle and Dylan Kelly repeated last year’s performance by winning the GMFCYP pool competitions. Dylan won the under 12 section and William moved up the age group to win the under 14 competition. They will both go forward to the Northern Area finals in Preston.

The Eric and Archie team – 135 years for SLC

Two of the most remarkable men you could ever meet, Eric Salthouse and Archie Swift joined Salford Lads’ Club as 12 year olds. This week the club acknowledged their combined 135 years involvement, first as junior members and then as volunteers.  Eric has now been involved with the club for 70 years and Archie 65 years. The first camp they attended just after WW2 was in 1946 and they were both present at this year’s historic 100th camp.
