Salford Lads and Girls Club Young People Meet Bruce Springsteen Thanks to Global Youth Partnership

Young people with Bruce Springsteen

A group of young people from Salford Lads and Girls Club and Your Music CIC experienced the night of a lifetime this weekend when they had the chance to meet global music legend Bruce Springsteen at his Co-Op Live Arena show in Manchester. For many, it was their first ever live concert—a moment they’ll never forget.

This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity was made possible through the inspiring partnership between the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs and World Youth Clubs, who work together to connect youth organisations around the world and provide transformative cultural experiences.

For some of the young people, music plays a huge role in their lives, but the cost of attending live events often creates a barrier. Thanks to this partnership, the group were gifted tickets, backstage passes, and most incredibly, the opportunity to meet Bruce Springsteen himself.

As part of the visit, 15-year-old club member and singer-songwriter John Denton proudly presented Bruce with a World Youth Clubs and Salford Lads Club t-shirt, along with a demo of his own music—a special moment that could shape John’s journey as an emerging artist.

“Watching the faces of the young people as the night unfolded was pure magic. From the size of the venue to the noise of the crowd, it was a brand new experience for many of them—one they’ll remember for the rest of their lives. We’re so grateful to World Youth Clubs and the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs for making it happen. Bruce was so lovely—he chatted with the young people and answered their questions about his musical journey. This is exactly what great youth work looks like—creating moments that change lives, open doors, and help young people dream bigger.”
– Laura Slingsby, CEO, Salford Lads and Girls Club

“More than anything, this was the most wonderful experience for the young people involved. It was both memorable and inspirational—potentially even life changing. It’s a perfect example of how strong partnerships between local, national, and global organisations can come together to create extraordinary opportunities for young people.”

“Huge thanks go to World Youth Clubs founders Rick and Susan Goings, who helped make this happen, and to Patti Springsteen who arranged backstage access and some brilliant gifts. And of course, to Bruce Springsteen himself, who met with everyone just 30 minutes before taking to the stage.”
– Andy Hamill, National Director, National Association of Boys & Girls Clubs
