Payroll giving

In most workplaces, you can make a donation to a UK registered charity of your choice directly from your monthly salary – this is also sometimes known as ‘Give As You Earn’ or Workplace Giving. If you already give to a charity via direct debit, by converting to ‘Give As You Earn’, your preferred charity will receive the same amount at the basic tax rate or 30% more at the higher rate. Anyone who pays UK tax through PAYE can donate through Payroll Giving.

If you choose to donate to Salford Lads and Girls Club through payroll giving, you have full control over how much you would like to give and there is no minimum, or maximum amount. Check with your employer to make sure that your company offers payroll giving. If they do, they will arrange your donation through your salary for you – and if they don’t, why not encourage them to sign up? To set up a payroll giving scheme, your organisation will need to register with an approved payroll giving agency.

If you ever want to change or cancel your donation at any time, simply tell your employer. If you change your job, your donations will not be transferred to your new employer, so you will need to start a new donation with them via their scheme.
