Manchester Science Festival

Dr Steve Rossington returned to the newly restored gym with his explosive chemistry show “Louder than Bombs” Filling the gym with clouds of dry ice, loud explosions fire and light it was a bigger test than football or dodgeball! The event was organised by the University of Salford as part of the Manchester Science Festival.


Manchester Science Festival 2012 returned to the club with “Louder than Bombs”. This years event took place in the main gym. Dr Steve Rossington of Salford University presented his amazing chemistry “lecture” to a rapt audience of budding scientists. His demonstration created massive explosions, flashes of light and sulphurous smells. “It was louder and smellier than last year”

Yesterday we hosted an amazing science event as part of the month long Manchester Science Festival. A team from Salford University set up experiments and workshops in the gym, kitchen, boxing gym and billiards room.

In the concert hall Dr Steve Rossington treated a delighted audience to the wonders of chemistry, creating explosions, bangs and flashes in a show that lived up to its title “Louder than bombs”
