Craig Gill Friend of Salford Lads Club dies age 44

One of the great friends of the club, Craig Gill of Inspiral Carpets has died aged 44. Craig Gill was part of the cities incredible musical heritage but he was also a genuine nice guy who promoted everybody else’s heritage too. I feel proud to be called a friend of Craig, I got to know him over the last 14 years when he brought musicians, radio presenters,  film crews, tourist bosses , journalists and thousands of music fans to Salford Lads Club. Last year we made SLC T shirts in City blue and United red , I thought Craig who was a true blue, would only wear the blue one, but the following week on his tour there he was leading his team of visitors in our red T shirt! He was equally in awe of the clubs history and volunteer team: last Saturday when we were short staffed he was pleased to help, making tea and coffee for his bus full of visitors from around the world.
