Yesterday we had the annual Mozarmy visit by Manchester Music Tours. The weekend event attracts visitors from all over the world and this weekend was no exception with fans from New York, Los Angeles Mexico, Germany, France, Spain as well many from the UK. We also had a small display of Happy Mondays original album covers donated by the family of the late Derek Ryder which is part of a donation of material which we will display later this year.
Morrissey merchandise will be on sale in his ‘Mpourium’ including limited T-shirts, vinyl, and his books for three days to coincide with the weekend that the singer is performing in Manchester.
Morrissey’s gig will take place on Saturday August 20th at Manchester Arena and the shop will open each day from August 19th to 21st.

We will also be selling Salford Lads Club merchandise and showing a collection of photographs of Morrissey and Marr taken by fan, Colin Howe, in 1983. Colin will be here in person on Saturday 20th to sign books and posters.
Music Students from Loreto Sixth form College in Manchester were given an indie music tour of the city today led by Inspiral Carpets drummer Craig Gill. Craig is a regular visitor, the Smiths Room being one of the highlights of his weekly Manchester Music Tours.
Johnny Marr plays 2 Manchester gigs at the Ritz next weekend. We will be open to welcome music fans to visit the club and smiths room from 11am -4pm. T shirts, postcards and refreshments will be available.

It was a Happy New Year for our first visitors in 2013. Music fans Nino and Debora from Italy, were spotted outside in the semi darkness and were thrilled to be invited inside to be photographed next to Morrissey and Bez.
Nick Melvin a passionate devotee of The Smiths thought all his dreams had come true when his staff from Marketing Agency Delineo arranged a surprise birthday party at the club. The extra surprise was that they had booked the foremost Smiths tribute band in the UK, The Smyths . It was also a dream come true for The Smyths, who performed live from the concert hall stage for the first time.
On Saturday 3rd March, iconic Smiths photographer Stephen Wright will be here for a special photo shoot for Smiths and Morrissey fans. The new pictures will be going towards an exhibition at the Holden Gallery in Manchester, alongside Stephens original smiths pictures from 1985
So if you have the confidence and the style, Morrissey-esque quiffs, tattoos – please come along between 2pm and 5pm.
