Ghost Camp 2005

The Roots and Wings Awards are for ‘groundbreaking heritage learning projects with young people’ The Ghost Camp involved a radio play, drama workshops and an exhibition based on the club’s ill -fated camping holiday of 1940.

The Ghost Camp project was researched and devised by Leslie Holmes and involved young club members, adult volunteers and actress Penny McDonald in a 4 episode radio play broadcast on Salford Community Radio in June 2005. Music for the Ghost Camp was written and performed by Vinny Peculiar and Craig Gannon.

The Club also worked with Ordsall Community Arts to create 3 day workshops for primary schools involving actors Alan Keogh and Hilary Barber. An exhibition in the concert hall featured period camp tents, a large model of the camp and projected archive film of the1939 camp.
