Greater Manchester table tennis finalists

Niall Armsden won the Greater Manchester Federation under19 table tennis competition last week.  Club member Robert Payne also reached the final of the under 14 competition. Both will go forward to the regional finals

Salford Lads and Girls Dominate Snooker and Pool Competitions.
7 members off SLGC have won places to the regional snooker and pool finals in Preston later this year. Ryan Miller, Zac Murray, Niall Armsden, Alex Scott and Toni Stapleton join Barry Britain and Dylan Whitehead as Greater Manchester winners and runners up. This is a record number of SLGC members to win events in the same year, fantastic!

The sport usually taking place here is table tennis, but this week Liverpool based Smiths tribute band,The Smiths Indeed launched their 25th anniversary “Meat is Murder” tour “ The event was filmed for the BBC North West Tonight programme.

This weekend the club hosted the first of 2 Matt Watson Leadership Training Weekends for young people aged 16-21 involved in leadership at Clubs in the GMFCYP. Saturday saw the group involved in team building activities and on Sunday the young people organised the Greater Manchester Federation Table Tennis Competitions.

In the table tennis finals Salford Lads Club’s Robert Payne won the under 14 event and club members George Harding and Ryan Wilkinson fought it out in the under 19 final with George coming out on top.
All the winners and runners up of the under 12, under14 under16 and under 19 events will now go forward to the national championships later this year organised by Clubs for Young People.
